Dogal EV105E Evolution Flat Wound Carbon Steel Guitar Strings, Wound 3rd 10-46

EV105E .010, .013, .018C, .026C, .036C, .046C

The evolution of the round wound series to a smooth flat wound string. The dimensional tolerance during production of these strings is held to .02 mm thus aiding to achieve perfect intonation. Thanks to the carbon alloy these strings are made with, the sound quality is very similar to that of round wound strings but with sound quality advantages (purity and clarity) typical of smooth winding.

Other characteristics of the "Evolution System: Ultraflat" Series are the lack of noise during playing thanks to the smooth surface, greater ease of finger movement, as well as longer life compared to round-wound strings.

great, versatile strings

I play a broad range from jazz, blues, country and rock. I've played TI Jazz swing 12's on arch tops. purchased a Collings I35 planning on playing all styles on it rather than switching from an archtop to a tele. I tried many strings. the D'Addario NYXLs it comes with (10 and 11s), Newton's jazz set with a wound G, String joy rounds, and the Dogals 10 and 11s. I love a wound G and the EV105E 10's come with one and it my favorite G string I've ever played! Great tone and flexibility. As Dogal says, these strings have a tone sort of between traditional flats and rounds which suits wonderfully. And they simply feel and play great!

Great Strings

I put these on a 1974 Gibson Les Paul. They are very smooth. Way smoother than the GHS Burnished Nickel Rockers that were on it. No finger squeak. They sound good to me. I can bend the wound G strings as well as any plain G string I have played. Not sure yet if I like these better than Thomastik-Infeld Jazz Flats. I bought a set of those and have them on a Gibson SG.
