Creator Description: "Strings chosen according to D'Addario String Tension Pro tension calculations. Started with baritone ukulele strings changing scale length, tuning and strings until tensions were all approximately 10 lbs. Mandolin tuning was chosen because I play mandolin and am interested in other voices but don't have time to commit to learning additional tunings."

Q: How you doing, I am restoring/ refurbing a 1928 Ludwig Bellvue Tenor banjo with a goat skin head. I am interested in setting it up with nylon/ nylgut strings. I found these Custom Customer Concotions for Brian Ward.. I think the identifier is "BWMandoBanjo". This concoction is for a 17 fret instrument. My Ludwig is a 19 fret, 22 7/8" scale. would this same set be effective on my Ludwig or do es the scale length need to be taken into account?

A: The BWMandoBanjo set is designed for 20.75" scale and yes, your longer
scale length would product higher tension being longer. Thinner
strings would be required, one gauge down per string. Note, D'Addario
is no longer available and we will be converting all to La Bella singles.
