Martin MA545 SP Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings Lt Med 12.5-55

I generally buy John Pearse strings in various combinations to cover the very different guitars I have.
But I just added an older 1937 D-28 Authentic in Madi, so I thought I'd try it with the strings Martin shipped them with. And on this guitar, it's the perfect fit.
Nothing new sounds quite like a good original '37, but it's close enough that the difference is hard to notice through a sound system. Great guitar, as is most of the Authentic lineup.
I like the the light/medium set for a modern guitar with red spruce. . . typically it takes a little more to drive the top for the first 5-10 years, but the trebles have a beautiful bell tone while the . 56 low E gets that richness and power that I like in a dread.
I'll be keeping these strings on the Authentic.

These really go great on my r12 cedar top and absolutely nail my favorite classic folk live album tones from the early 1970s when Phosphor Bronze strings were first introduced.

Perfect if your guitar really shouldn’t have mediums, but you want a bit more sound than lights.

For large body guitars (dreadnoughts, OMs, or jumbos) these strings are just great. They are exactly between Martin light and Medium gauge strings. They have a great tone and hold their tune exceptionally well. The biggest surprise is that these strings made my old Guild D40 come back to life. Not recommended for small body, or custom-made guitars.
