Lovely tone. :)

I got these to try out one of several different sets of strings. So far, this has been my favorite on the octave mandolin - it's warm but clear.

Here are the offical gauges from Pyramid:
8-string sets, with loop end, scale 51.2 cm
e1 e1 0.30 mm (.012inch) Silver-plated steel
a a 0.45 mm (.018inch) Silver-plated steel
d 0.82 mm (.032inch) Silver-plated copper on steel core
d1 0.36 mm (.013inch) Silver-plated steel
G 1.16 mm (.046inch) Silver-plated copper on steel core
g 0.45 mm (.018inch) Silver-plated steel

Silver wrap will provide a warmer/mellower tone as compared to phosphor.
