Great Edition! Must Have!
Review by Kevin J. on 14 Aug 2018 review stating Great Edition! Must Have! This book is a great addition for any intermediate to advanced classical guitarist. There are no fingerings, therefore not good for a beginner, but there are string indications that relate to the baroque guitar fingerings.
Robert Strizich has done a great job transcribing Sanz' baroque guitar tablature to modern notation AND in a way that will fit onto the modern classical guitar and still maintain the "gist" of Sanz' fingerings. One of the problems with transcribing (and in some ways, arranging) baroque tablature is to notate how long each note should sound, as this is not indicated in the tablature itself. Mr. Strizich does a wonderful job in realizing this! While there are other "Complete Sanz" books, I would highly recommend Mr. Strizich's edition. In it you will find the original ornamentation markings as well as the wonder "campenellas" or string crossings that are so prevalent in Baroque guitar music. Also, much of this music contains strums, which are absent in a lot of other transcriptions of Sanz' music.
Again, I highly recommend this for the intermediate to advanced guitarist!
