This is a new publication of 2024 written and edited by Brian Jeffery, about Sor’s famous piece Grand Solo. It is a set of four items of which one is a short book which describes in detail the currently known early sources of Grand Solo, solves a puzzle, and describes the possible origins of the piece. Part Two of the book discusses and seeks to answer the question: which version should I play, and why? The book is accompanied by three separately printed new editions of the three principal early versions of Grand Solo which are significantly different from each other, so that players can decide for themselves, on the basis of the information provided in the book, which of the three versions they wish to play.

This new publication TECLA 1220 Sor’s Grand Solo builds on the 2016 discovery by Mario Torta of the fine arrangement of Grand Solo made by Pierre-Jean Porro in about 1811 and discusses that version and the other two early versions.
