Good quality flatwound strings
Review by Zach on 13 Apr 2022 review stating Good quality flatwound strings Strings were smooth and without defect, as expected of Thomastik flatwound strings.
For those experimenting with string sets, be warned that the .070 strings do not fit some smaller sized tuner holes. (especially non-slotted-peghead tuners). I tried to shorten one of them to fit my 22" scale 5-course octave mandolin, but because flatwounds are only loosely bound to the middle layer, I ruined one of the strings as the entire outer layer came loose. These strings really are only meant for a very specific instrument. If you do choose to try them out on something shorter, make sure your tuner holes are big enough and your tuning posts are long enough, because these strings are not meant to be cut past the cloth binding before stringing.
