Decent drop-A
Review by DECEMBER on 12 Nov 2021 review stating Decent drop-A I got this for a low A on a 34" scale 5 string bass. It barely fit thru the tailpiece and I had to file the nut, but it works. A .148 would actually probably be the ideal gauge for A, but not very obtainable. The .145 is just barely enough tension to pull it off. And the string didn't sound too good until it was broken in. It took me a month to finally dial in my amp and FX/modeler to start sounding good with the low A.
I will continue to use this string if it's my only option. I'm going to try a .148 from Kalium next. I might have to drill the tailpiece to get it thru it. But if that doesn't work out, this will be my A string. There's not really any other option.
Pro Steels makes .160, .165, .170... Why don't they make .150, .155? If you made a .150 I would definitely buy it.
