Bold and bright
Review by Jake C. on 25 Jan 2026 review stating Bold and bright Normally I prefer D'Addario EXL170's. They're nickel wound with hexcore and have a wonderful feel. I bought the EPS170 steels this time because I needed something bolder and brighter for my Yamaha because it has a very deep, middy tone. These fill the bill. They still have a nice feel although the steel winding is a little rougher on the fingers. It's no problem for me though. The brighter sound of the steel compliments the full-bodied tone for a well rounded sound. Even with the hexcore, the Daddario's have a more supple feel than most other hexcores I've tried.
