TUSQ Picks.
Review by Richard G. on 15 May 2018 review stating TUSQ Picks. I've always been a fingerstyle player, but recently started to learn a little flat picking. So, I've been experimenting. Graphtech introduced picks in several shapes and three different variants of their TUSQ material. White is supposed to produce a "bright" tone, tan a "soft", and dark gray "deep". I purchased one of each type in .88mm and 1.00mm thickness -- six picks total in standard pick shape. TUSQ is pretty stiff so I don't notice much difference between the two thicknesses, a bit less than say the difference between similar nylon picks. The picks are comfortable to hold and don't seem to turn too much in my newbie grip -- no more than the Dunlop Ultex picks I have been using.
Given my inexperience, or maybe just my old ears and relatively inexpensive collection of instruments, I can't detect very much difference in the tone produced by the different materials.
I was particularly impressed that Strings By Mail sells these as single picks. I didn't have to by four or five of each just to try them and that makes experimentation easy and cheap. And, while there is a variety pack available, I didn't want to try anything but standard shaped picks.
The 4-star rating reflects my inexperience not the quality of the product. These are high quality picks at a very low competitive price point.
