Dogal Hellborg Pure Nickel Stranded Core FLAT Wound Bass Strings for 34" scale basses

Dogal Hellborg strings are made by wrapping a single wire of Pure Nickel on a stranded core, offering low tension, improved intonation and impressive flexibility.

The evolution of the Hellborg round wound series developed in collaboration with bassist Jonas Hellborg. Combining our experience in manufacturing bowed instruments strings, we have created the world's first electric bass strings made with a 'Multicore'. The combination of alloys emphasize the whole range of frequencies. From the highest to the lowest, without sacrificing the midranges.

The last winding is made of a special alloy and each string is smoothed by hand with a tolerance of 1/100 of a mm throughout its whole length. These strings produce a richer overtone series, more in tune with the fundamental, resulting in a more precise and stable pitch and intonation across the whole spectrum.

Finally! Flats that don’t have pronounced overtones that fight with the fundamental pitch

Great strings and I will buy again if these wear out. Background: I play fretless bass guitar with flats. The issue for me with solid core flats (hex or round core) is that for the lowest pitched strings there are a few overtones that conflict with the fundamental pitch, and that drives my ears crazy. These flats are world’s first and ONLY “stranded” core strings for electric bass, and the result is GREAT. Plus they are very flexible so playing ornaments and vibrato on a fretless is really enhanced! However, the “g string” (the first string) did not work out for me. The combination having more flexibility, a very thin diameter, and the low action of a fretless made the timbre too different from the lower pitched strings for my ear, and for fretless it buzzed too much against the fingerboard. So I just swapped it out for a solid round core flat g-string and all is good for me. So, for fretted bass guitar players (typically having higher action), the g-string might not present a problem. Regardless of the g-string, the strings play SO MUCH MORE in tune and I love them! I read that people are put-off by the price tag, but making a stranded core is in fact a more costly process … and c’mon folks … you are going to pay maybe thousands for your bass and then skimp on the strings … the very thing that actually produces the sound? I predict you will like these Dogal Hellborg flats very much.

JH172’s are worth every Penny-Fantastic

I installed the JH172’s on a Rickenbacker 4003 and couldn’t be happier. They are so Fat and clear up and down the fretboard. They really are a Game-changer. Worth Every penny

Cotton finishing at the tail starts at cm 92,5 = 92.5 inches for all the strings.
