Nice strings

I have been using Elixir strings for years but recently decided to try a slightly lighter gauge. These strings sound great and are easier on the fingers.

Elixir 16027 strings

I have been searching for the perfect strings for my Martin M-38 for the last decade on my severely limited Social Security income. Strings By Mail has been a huge help for me financially, enabling me to try many different brands and combinations without forcing me to live under a bridge. I moved away from plain phosphor bronze some time ago because I wanted a "punchier" sound and easier fingering on this acoustically quirky instrument. Recently, an old video of my playing a 1946 Martin 00-18 with the above Elixir strings surfaced and caused me to note this was the sound I was searching for on my M-38. Realizing the difference between the two instruments, I decided that it would be worth trying the Elixirs on my own guitar. I'm currently using cryogenic hyper elipticals that are not available through SBM. They are very nearly what I want if I turn my hearing aids up several levels, but this causes other problems and I have no idea how well the guitar is putting out over a PA system. So the assessment is still to be made on my part, but if it works out, the package deals offered by SBM will be well worth the money. The service and attention offered by SBM is the best.
