D'Addario Flatwound Electric Guitar Strings ECG25 Chromes Light 12-52

Excellent

Something about the D'Addario Chromes just fits perfect in both feel and tone. I've tried other brands but always end up back with Chromes.

I've been using the Thomastik JS112 and JS113, but they've become too expensive. I tried the D'Addario Chromes years ago, on a different guitar, and didn't care for them, but decided to try them again on this guitar (Eastman AR605, older version with the floating pickup). I like them much better on this guitar.
As usual, SBM shipped my order promptly and correctly.

Chromes are the only strings I use on my archtops there warm mellow tone is my sound.

The third string of this set is a wound string like lower three strings. I had these installed on a brand new telecaster. The second day after receiving the instrument this string sounded very wonky. Similar to what a resonator guitar wound sound like. I thought humidity was the culprit and caused the guitar neck adjustments to change. I turned down the string to adjust the string height a bit. When I retuned the string it snapped. I think perhaps the core is too fine. I dunno perhaps this was just a bad string. I’m going to check with Matt and see about getting an equivalent solid string as a replacement.
