FLATS authentic in every way. Constructed over a round core for increased flexibility and lower tension, the RB FLATS are wound with a pure nickel flat wire, which is then polished to a high shine, resulting in a string that is both supple and comfortable to play. With the RB FLATS, Optima have created a flat wound bass string which echo’s the classic tones of yesteryear.

Silk on ball end too long

I had to return them. The silk on the ball end extended beyond the saddle. I couldn’t use them on my Fender Precision because of this.

I have three Rickenbacker 4003

I have three Rickenbacker 4003 Basses, two of them are the 4003-S model. I have kept the original factory strings on all three. Though I decided that I wanted to put flatwound strings on one of them to obtain a more vintage 1960's sound. I had read that Optima Flatwound Strings are as close to the original strings that Rickenbacker provided on their 1960's vintage instruments. I found the strings listed on Strings By Mail and I found their website very easy to navigate. I ordered the strings, they got here sooner then anticipated, and I now have them installed on my bass. I absolutely love them and I have achieved the sound that I was looking for. Strings By Mail made the whole process a very friendly and efficient experience. I will definitely order from them again.

Great service

The A string from the first set broke while putting it on the bass. I contacted Strings By Mail and Matt responded with an apology and said a full new set would be sent. Within the hour I had a tracking number. The strings arrived when I was told they would and are now on the bass. I can’t really comment on the strings but the service I received from Matt was exceptional.
