The La Bella Super Polished bass strings have the punch of stainless steel but the smooth, buttery feel of flats. They begin the process by taking round-wound stainless steel strings (designed with their flexible Olinto hex cores & gauges) and placing them on factory-designed polishers, smoothing down the ridges commonly associated with round-wound strings.

This polishing process far exceeds the feel of conventional and abrasive feeling “half rounds” or “ground wound” strings.

The result is a unique tone that simmers between flats and rounds! The feel...buttery smooth!

Standard Long Scale Set: All strings are 37" from ball-end to silk/taper. Only the silk portion of the string should wrap around the tuning post (or else the string will break).
These strings can be both top loaded and strung through the body of the bass. If stringing through the body, make sure the 37” wound length is long enough for through body stringing.
Do not tug or pull on strings to break them in as they might break.

Found My String Nirvana

I believe that every bass chooses a string - not a new concept. I have tried, a great expense, to find the "cinderella" string" for all of my basses and have with all sincerity tried virtually every brand that I could get my hands on - from large brands to boutique.

These strings are simply brilliant. Like a round steel string without the finger noise and clank. Beautifully balanced in feel and tone with all of the characteristics of a great steel string.

The thinner hex core allows them to vibrate in a way that is firm but very musical. The tension is perfect (as the gauge might scare off some) for my '64 J bass reissue and they feel like a typical 45-105 round but with bit more flexibility/less tension feel than even the DR Pure Blues that sat on that bass previously,

I really hope Labella does not discontinue these like their other "experimental" (and often excellent) efforts as they tend to do.
