Optima 24K Gold Plated Acoustic Guitar Strings 13-57

Actually my first time getting these strings and my first time using medium strings. I went from some silver very light strings to these gold medium strings because I tuned down a whole step but the sound is amazing. Such a huge difference. I’m going to stick with these strings from now on. I bought a light set too. I plan to put the light strings in my other guitar eventually.

Very bright, full sounding strings at first. They are less light than 80/20, sounding forward and a little aggressive, which I enjoyed. However, I was expecting something coated in gold to tarnish less easily, and these string died faster than any string I’ve ever had. Their sound when dead is like a rubber band. Worst dead strings I’ve heard. Would be completely unsustainable for me at the price point!

This is the third or forth time I've ordered these. They are expensive, but worth it. Wow, the tone out of these, it is hard to compare. They may not be for all guitars, but on my Rosewood/Alacre, they are the absolute best. I have tried quite a few strings, and I come back to these.

I use these 24K 13-57s on my GS Mini Mahogany tuned down 1/2 step to match my baritone vocals to keep highest tension that GS Mini requires with mediums. Chords are beautiful. I originally got them to see if it improves potential nickel touch allergy. But, them being gold should be a good match for my traveling GS Mini which may end up on the beach one day...or forest another, i.e. harsher environments than our homes or studios.

Cords sound so much sweeter when they are in 24k gold.
All my buddies are jealous because the strings on my guitar are more valuable than their whole guitars.
What are the poors doing? I’ve got no idea, but I can tell you what their not doing.. and that’s playing 24k gold strings.

But honestly, I’ve had these on for a couple of days now, and since they have played in nicely. I normally like to use the Monel strings on my daily driver but I felt like swapping it up a little.
They are definitely brighter sounding than the monels it will be interesting just how long they can hold on to that sound. Their not the most expensive strings I’ve ever used but at 17 a pack they are definitely up there, I’m open minded to them though and am interested to see how long they will last.
