Longevity is the real benefit of these strings
Review by Charles D. on 12 Mar 2026 review stating Longevity is the real benefit of these strings The bright, somewhat washy, sound of the plating is noticeably different from PB or nickel uncoated strings. Not necessarily better. Tactile feel to the fingers is about the same as an uncoated string.
On my Alvarez, they do not seem to intonate very well despite being the proper length. Issues persisted regardless of trying different Hz pitches.
For the price I would not recommend them, unless you really want the look of the gold. They look nice, and the coating will last a long time, but those are the main appeals. Without proper intonation or a particularly desirable sound, however, their longevity isn't really that much of a selling point IMO
