Hannabach 835 MT Octave / Soprano Guitar Strings, Full Set

Q: I've been using these strings on a Guitalele for years! It has always worked well. The lower strings tend to break but you can replace them with guitar strings if you do the math right or just find a comparable size visually.

My question : Am I crazy or did they use to make these strings for 40cm scales? I have one of my old packages here and it states 40cm. Did they change these strings in recent years, or just changed the labeling?

Anyhow, 44 cm is better than 40 for use on a guitalele, it should match the scale almost perfectly.

Q: Is it possible to purchase several of the highest E string from this set as backup in the event of breakage?

I have used the "savarez low tension soprano guitar" strings to tune a yamaha guitalele to high E (one octave higher than standard tuning) but the thinner string of E broke even before reaching high D! Do you think these hannabach strings would do the job or is it better to tune the guitalele lower than E (high C or D for example)? Could it be my instrument that matters, not the strings?
