New Monel Standard sets are the first offering in what we call Pyramid’s “Americana Series” strings. This particular string is a bit different from our first round core Monel set as it is a hexagonal core design that is more typical of the modern “American style” round wound guitar strings that have been made in the USA for the last few decades. The New Monel Standard has more volume than our round core version has and thus gives the player more options for where this great early 50’s sound can be used. Here this string will work better with some single-coil instruments, where the round core versions had been previously recommended for use with humbucking equipped instruments. It has also been noted that if the player has installed higher output single-coil pickups into their guitar (in example a Fender Telecaster), our louder New Monel Standard sets will adeptly rise to the occasion! For acoustic Bluegrass applications, the hexagonal core will give your guitar a much bigger broader projection onstage and also into the audience. We think you will love these new sets in any case.
