Stringjoy Signatures | Balanced Super Light Gauge (9-42) Nickel Wound Electric Guitar Strings

The standard for 9s is typically 9-11-16-24-32-42, and while the gauges on the bottom end are solid, the top is all kinds of messed up. The issue on most sets is that the .011 has far too little tension to balance with the .009 and the .016 has far too much tension. So, with Balanced 9s Stringjoy fixes all that by using a .012 and a .015 instead.

The result is a set of strings that plays evenly across the entire fretboard and intonates better when set up properly.

Disappointed with my first-ever set of Stringjoy strings.

I've seen many reviews of Stringjoy strings on-line and decided to try a set. Unfortunately, I've been left disappointed and merely "neutral" of Stringjoy, as a brand.
Considering the "premium" price of the set, the condition of the product was poor: Right out of the box, the . 015 / third string had a 10-inch long dark, tarnished section right above the ball-end, making it, basically, unusable.
Also, I think that this may not be the best gauge / set for me, based on my playing style: the narrower gauge of the . 015 / third string (from the . 016 as part of a "standard" 9-gauge set) has made it more difficult to intonate and keep in-tune.
Stringjoy responded to my concerns within three business days, and sent me, both, a replacement . 015 and a replacement set.
I will continue to play and evaluate this "balanced" set of Stringjoy strings, but I can see how a standard set of 9-gauge strings would be better suited for my playing style, overall.
