Nickel wound guitar strings are made by winding nickel-plated steel wire around a tin-plated, high-carbon steel core wire. Nickel wound guitar strings have a very balanced tonal response with sparkling highs, clear mid-range and defined bass.

Works great for Open-G and Legend cone

I upgraded my Dobro cone to the Beard Legend cone and figured I'd try these nickel strings for a while to change things up. Originally, I had the instrument in Open-D since I thought the instrument sounded better with lower notes. Some combination of these strings and the new cone made the instrument sound a little dull in D tuning, so I changed to G, and they work great.

So bottom line: if you like drop tuning, nickel plated strings are brighter than bronze, so look somewhere else first, but otherwise these are great.

These are the best reso strings I've ever used.

I love these strings. They have a great vintage sound and play incredibly easily whether you are playing standard or slide. They are stiff enough to provide solid platform for the slide, and flexible enough to make those important frets up the neck.
