Planet Waves GHP Acoustic Guitar Humidifier Pro

The Planert Waves Humidifier Pro protects your guitar even in the driest conditions. Using a specialized hydrophilic sponge that holds 12X its dry weight in water (much more than ordinary sponge), the Humidifier Pro allows for longer periods between re-fills and increases protection in drier environments. Guarding against cracks, warped necks, and shrinkage is now easier and less work preserving your instruments ultimate playability. Suspended by the strings, the humidifier releases moisture evenly and slowly inside your guitar, yet never touches the guitar’s body. The humidifiers stopper allows you to check the sponge status without removal of the unit and provides a tight seal when in place. Maintaining the humidifier is as easy as moistening the sponge when it becomes dry.

Great design - a nice

Great design - a nice upgrade from the previous model.

Excellent moisture retention

These humidifiers are easy to use and the supplied sponges hold moisture for a good amount of time. The claim that these are specially designed sponges with significantly greater moisture capacity and retention seem to be true. I am getting at least a week before they need to be refilled. Will see how well they do through the winter but I am pleased so far. One can always count on D'Addario for well designed and reasonably priced products that live up to their descriptions.

Q: Does it work for classical guitar?

A: Hello Mario,
Yes, this should work fine with most all acoustic guitars including classical guitars. The humidifier is about 3.5 inches long so a guitar with a shallow body depth is the only likely exception.

Q: The new spange feels very firm. Do I need to soak it longer, or does it not get "spongy"?

Yes, the high capacity sponge does take longer to absorb enough moisture to become spongy. You may need to let it soak for the better part of a day on first use. In the unlikely event you received a defective sponge feel free to message us through the contact page of our website.
