D'Addario Nickel Wound EXL170 Regular Light (45-100), Full Set

All basses are different, and it's good to have so many string types to choose from. My old Precision gets along very well with these. I've tried many different strings on it, but the EXL 170's give it the sweetest P-bass sound I could ask for. However, they are a little stiff, and only keep their full tone quality for about six months. The stiffness comes from the hex core, but that allows me to set the action a little lower without buzzing the frets, which is a good thing. So, only 4 stars because of the stiffness and short life, but the sweet tone and low price are nice off-sets.

I've set up countless basses with these and they're just consistently good. Nice, bright and clear tone but never shrill. Roll back that tone control and they're still punchy and warm. Dig em' baby.
