I've found these to be inconsistent from one set to the next...often very bright, occasionally sort of dead sounding. I've had good luck with them in the past, but also bad luck...current set sounds like they've been on that guitar for three months after only a week.

I have used both strings before but wanted to try other medium gauge strings that seemed interesting. I did but preferred these strings over the medium gauge sets. Both are easy on the finger and sound great. I also understand everyone has their own preferences too.

I tried these once before and wasn't impressed...too bright, thin, lacking power, went dead quickly. I think I might have received an older set at that time, because they had a dull appearance. When I tried them again, went with the next gauge up (the first one was a Light set 11-52, then tried the Lt-Medium 12-54). The change in string gauge, up to 12-54 made all the difference; they have great tone and power, along with good longevity. I also appreciate that EB actually publishes the EQ response curve of the strings on the package...I wish all the string mfgs would do this. These have a somewhat 'scooped' response, great for guitars that already have a lot of power in the mids and don't need any help in that area. I'm using these on my Larrivee L-03 which is Sitka top over So American Mahogany back & sides.
