GHS Bright Bronze 80/20 BB50H Acoustic Guitar Strings Heavy 14-60

I have a 50's Epiphone archtop with the Frequensator tailpiece. I use 80/20 strings and was really surprised to find these came in 14's. I've never seen 14's. The strings are short for my guitar but decided to wind the A and D on the core wire. I've never done that and don't know if it's okay but it seemed to work. Winding these I was expecting the string to break partly because of being on the core and because the tension is far greater than any string I've used. I'd be happier with longer strings but these sound great. The sound is very defined maybe they're brighter than other 80/20s but nothing really different. Because of the length I don't know that I'll use these again and, to tell the truth, 14's may be too much but I think I could get used to them because they really do sound great.
