GHS PF160 Professional Banjo, 5 String Phosphor Bronze, Full Set

Great strings, great seller!

I've been using the GHS PF160 for decades on various banjos. The phosphor bronze fourth string gives a little warmth to the sound. Stainless steel string sound too brittle for me. The medium gauge strings last longer for the style I play (bluegrass) and are also preferred since I also fingerpick guitar and would play too heavily on light gauge strings causing them to go out of tune. I've tried many other brands and gauges over the years but keep going back to the PF160.

These are my favorite banjo strings. I play mostly clawhammer, but also do a lot of heavy strumming, so I love the heaviest strings I can find. Love the wound 4th string for this purpose. These strings have a nice warm, sturdy tone--not brittle and tinny like so many other banjo strings. Strings By Mail offers the best price on these, too.
