Replace GHS plain steel B & G strings with GHS N18 & N22
Review by Dimitrios N. on 25 Aug 2024 review stating Replace GHS plain steel B & G strings with GHS N18 & N22 I bought these strings to replace the steel B & G strings on a GHS 10-46 Rollerwound Nickel Rocker light set.
The set comes with 3 plain steel treble strings and 3 rollerwound nickel strings.
I’ve used these for wound B (N18) and wound G (N22), and StringsByMail carries these as singles.
After putting the strings on the guitar I tuned the strings down by a full note or two to let them stretch. I retuned every few hours and measured the action to check that I wasn’t pulling on the guitar.
The next day I’d tune closer to pitch until it got there. It took me about three days to get it to pitch but it was worth it.
The guitar was easier to play, softer feel on the high strings and IMO the intonation was better, contiguous once the guitar settled in.
The guitar is a Yamaha APX600 it’s a cutaway and has electronics, tone is good.
