Extremely poor quality control
Review by Reggie on 24 Sep 2021 review stating Extremely poor quality control I purchased Hannabach 841MT set and extremely B and E trebles for an Esteve Contrabass guitar. I noticed that B, and Especially E trebles began to fray in less than a week’s time. I thought that I might have gotten a bad batch, so I re-ordered the two trebles. I will mention that I often retuned the strings 1/2 step up to accommodate all-fourths tuning. Upon installation, the new E treble again frayed within a few days of use. I sent photos to Hannabach. I received no reply. I reordered the same trebles, and did not retune them. They again failed within a few days. I received word from Matt at SBM that Hannabach advised that they could not guarantee string integrity due to retuning, and when I informed them that the strings had not been retuned, they advised me that perhaps my Guitar should undergo Fret polishing. I then tried another set, Savarez. They have been installed on the guitar, and subject to constant retuning, with no fraying or failure for approximately two months now. It is ludicrous that Hannabach does not stand by their product, and that the most expensive premium string for this fairly rare instrument is far outclassed in utility , endurance, and versatility by the least expensive offering on the market. I also had custom strings made by Hannabach for another acoustic bass guitar, and experience breakage and failure of the strings, while they were simply mounted, unplayed, on the instrument! This happened with three replacement sets!! Seems to me that the company should invest in some form of quality control testing of theirs product, and a new winding machine. I have never encountered a less durable string, and will not purchases their products in the future. They do sound well.. for a few days.
