Aquila Guilele Strings 145C High E Tuning Full Set of 6 Strings

Aquila makes great guitalele strings

So I carefully tightened all the strings in my Gretch 17 fret Guitalele and they worked for a bit…but then the high e and high b snapped…😕 which is sad…because I was thrilled to have finally found the strings that would give me a high e tuning. I tried smoothing out the saddle…. lubricatibg the groove and saddle with graphite…but…no succes yet

These strings sound great but the high e string has a tendency to break; I went through two packs tuning the high e string.

I own a Gretsch G9126 and have tried multiple times to use this set and each time High e snaps. I have tried to slowly get it close to pitch then let it settle overnight, then do it again, but each time the string will keep dropping in pitch until it finally snaps.

Note this occurs with replacements I have tried, but I’d expect Aquila to build a set that can survive its own tension. Other than the one string they sound phenomenal and love the feel of their strings. I’ve even recorded without the High e, but for now went back to A tuning.

I put these on a Yamaha Guitalele GL-1 and they sound great. However, the high e string broke right away when I got it up to pitch. I replaced it with an extra nylgut banjo string I had around, and it has held up fine so far (I forget which set it was from, but it was #2).

There is a little bit of sqeaking finger noise on the D string, but it's not a big deal and may go away as they get broken in. Overall, they sound great and I would like to get them again, but I'm not sure I can trust that high e.
