Aquila Bionylon 7-String Russian Tuning Classical Guitar Strings 142C

These strings are nicer than the set that shipped with my 7 string acoustic. I'd buy them again.

I installed the strings and started to bring them to tension. The 7th string broke before I could even get the guitar in tune. I have a pack of the Aquila guilele strings. So I'll give them another chance if I don't have the same experience with those. For now, I'll order some Pyramids to see if they are any better.

Considering they are the cheapest readily available set for proper tension of russian tuning they are very good. My last set after several months of play saw the winding on the 4th string break in a couple places, but given i never bother replacing strings until something goes wrong with them perhaps this could be counted as a feature. In the future i might try more expensive strings to have a good comparison, but these are better than the strings that came with the guitar from russia.

Bought them nearly a year ago to restore my granddad's 7-string guitar. It was restrung with some odd acoustic guitar strings and re-made to a regular 6 string. I slapped them probably at the same time they've arrived but haven't a dedication since I play in standard E and all-fifth (tenor) tunings. But only today I tried to give them a real try. Even after nearly a year on open air conditions they sounded resonant and very bright (compared, for instance to Daddario-made on my 6 string). The only issues I had - the winding on 7'th D snapped on the bridge (for a reason I don't really know), however I made enough turns on my tuning pegs, so I turned them around.
Speaking about alternatives - there are some Chinese made acoustic strings. I highly don't recommend to use acoustic (metal) strings on your 7 string unless it has built-in thruss rod - they will bend the neck to unrestorable condition. From my perspective, the strings have the material similar to regular Aquila ukulele strings, but the color is more yellow-ish and not transparent, so I suspect it's a more refined alternative for classic guitar (i.e. bionylon). The bass strings - (4th to 7th) look quite similar to 4th to 6th string on regular classic guitar strings and 7th D string has noticeably thicker winding, so it looks like a string from hard tension set. The tension on each string is balanced and every string sounds perfectly tuned to given pitch compared to regular 6 string tuned to open G tuning - they sound wonky and a bit dull compared to Aquila strings. The strings give another feeling because of higher sympathetic resonance (more octaves and major thirds) that makes the guitar sound more similar to 12 string one, than to 6 string. Nearly all barres form a major chord, however minor chords look tricky.
Speaking about resistance to wear - the strings don't tend to create shiny spots near the frets, but the silver may disappear in places highly played with your fingers or near the bridge (as every classic strings do). I'll give them more trials, but for now they work better than I expected. However, returning to cons - they need enough winding on pegs left as well on bridge - just in case if some string will have some problems I described above.
