La Bella .025 Silver Wound Bass String, Single String

My La Bella silver wound strings are excellent. Very true in pitch, and easy to tune.

The wound 3rd string answered my problems of the classic dead sound of that string! I was very happy. I could even tune it to pitch along with the other strings and it was right on even farther up the neck! The problem is after about 2 weeks the winding comes undone at many of the frets. It's as if the winding is so delicate or thin guage it unravels then vibrates against the frets. I go along with a fingernail clipper and clip off the unwound excess and it works for a few days or hours then it keeps unwinding. I instead tried the Savoy would 3rd string with the same great tuning results and found the windings make it about 1/3rd longer before unraveling. Still I face the same problem and don't know what to do. Any input let me know. Still it is fantastic to play and not have a deficient 3rd string. Thanks for your great service!

I play a five -course Lavta, which is a long neck soft-fretted lute played in the Mediterranean and Middle East...originally from Constantinople/Istanbul. Finding strings of the right gauges is difficult. So I assemble sets from La Bella single strings.
This can be somewhat costly with four double courses and bass single...but they last a very very long time. They are great strings! Also SBM was helpful recently and communicated with me rapidly about availability of specific gauges.
