Knobloch DA 34.5 Duo Assad High Tension Classical Guitar Strings

These have become my favorite strings over the last few years. The balance in volume and tone across all strings is excellent, as is the intonation. The G string (3rd) has a larger diameter than those from other manufacturers, which seems to reduce color and volume changes for passages crossing between the 3rd and 4th strings. These transitions feel very even. In the past, I have found string noise to be a problem with higher-tension strings, but I've had no problems with these. I have nothing negative to say. . .

These are fantastic strings - cutting edge new technology, which I'm a big proponent of. These are the most natural feeling and sounding classical guitar strings that I've found to date that hold tension and don't break. They did take me quite a lot longer (about a week of tuning up a half step once a day from baritone tuning) to get them up to 430 and eventually 440hz, but they really do sound and feel really great, especially now that they're totally strechted out and up to tension. I've played Knobloch, Actives QZ, Carbono, Erithacus, and other strings for many years—all excellent quality. Now I've just tried the Duo Assad model, and I can say they are the best set of high-tension strings I've ever tried from the Knobloch line. The sound is elegant, round, and lyrical, and they are very versatile. Ideal for guitarists who appreciate rich timbre, dynamics, and expression. Highly recommended!

This is hands down one of the best string sets I’ve ever played. After trying my first set, I didn’t hesitate to order two more as this will be my go to set for now.

The tone is simply sublime: warm and mellow, yet beautifully clear and dynamically rich. The third string is noticeably thicker than the others, but it feels balanced and natural under the fingers; especially when compared to similar carbon sets I’ve used in the past. Despite being nylon, the feel and response are excellent.

They do take about 48 hours to really settle and open up, but once they do, the strings reveal their full depth and expressive range.

I’m using these on a cocobolo and spruce top guitar, which naturally leans toward a darker, fuller sound; and this set complements it perfectly, adding clarity without sacrificing warmth. Just great!

The D string finally snapped a few days after the 3rd update. I replaced the4 basses. What I noticed is the basses were nicely crisp but still balanced and warm. This made the trebles sound warmer. Before replacing the basses the trebles sounded brighter than the basses. So there is a tone / time range to work with. The same trebles are still on. Who knows how long they will last.
