Optima 24K Gold Plated 2028SL Super Light Electric Guitar Strings 8-38

My review is not a reflection on Strings by Mail.

I'm new to these Optima gold strings. I like the feel and sound. I've been playing 8s on my Charvel Superstrat for awhile now (typically NYXLs). Unfortunately, with the first pack of these Optima golds I bought on 4/2/26, I snapped the high E string on the same day they arrived. Stringsbymail sent me a new high E, free of charge. I installed it on arrival and thought I was good to go. Then I snapped another one in late May. I ordered a new set, went ahead and replaced all the strings, and again, thought I was in the clear. Now at the end of June, another High E has snapped. I will add, I'm not a rookie, I've been playing for 30 years and I don't believe the breakage has anything to do with my bridge (vega trem).

These may be excellent strings, perhaps they just haven't figured out how to do super light gauges. Regardless, I will not be buying them again, it's all NYXLs moving forward.

Dig these strings, quite smooth feeling and sound great. In the first pack, the high E snapped during tuning and StringsbyMail was quick to get a replacement out. 10/10 service.
