Pyramid Authentic Gut Classical Guitar .024 e Single String

The e strings are fragile at medium pitch and make sure but groove is smooth. Order a couple assuming one will work.

Great stings, but I wasn’t too crazy about the unpolished texture.

Pyramid's gut high e has a brighter tone than Aquila, and they are not varnished. There is more friction than with varnished strings, which makes for a more precise response. They're sturdier with nails as well. In some cases the quality control can be off; if you get a darker string it may fray quicker, even without nails. This happened to me once, but when I bought a new string it was the correct color and has been wearing fine. So if the color or texture is off, I'd recommend asking for a new string. Otherwise, these are a great selection for an Old World sound,

The high e by Pyramid sounds brighter and brings out the melody lines of music very well. I had previously been using Aquila Gut & Silk 900 (not sold on SBM) and compared to those this is a brighter sounding string. It isn't varnished, so there is more friction. Also, it is quite thin, so I'd recommend wrapping it twice at the bridge to avoid it snapping. It's also convenient that you can get a single string, in case one breaks.
