In talking with guitarists, RC Strings learned that many found a carbon first string was uncomfortable. So RC combined a clear nylon first string with carbon second and third strings and silverplated basses to create this set, which offers a unique blend of tone. The result is an excellent, rich response with the comfort of the nylon first string. And like all RC strings, the set receives anti-corrosion treatment at the factory in Spain.

Bad intonation

The strings settle early, have a clear and relatively warm tone for carbons, and the nylon 1st gives it a nice soft flavour. Balance is better than I feared. The 2nd string (b) is badly out of tune, however, the higher the fret the worse. The intonation of the 3rd (g) isn't too great either, but the basses and 1st are in tune. Maybe I was just unlucky with the set. I'll have to change the composite trebles, unfortunately.

Royal Classics CNL40

The Royal Classics CNL40 are an excellent string. They sound balanced all across the board. No tubby "G"... I use them on my flamenco guitars. All my flamenco guitars are setup to have action at 2.6 to 2.8 mm at the 12th fret. Most strings buzz a lot with that low setup , with the Royal Classics CNL40 I'm able to have a very low action, no buzzing and awesome sound. This is the go to string for low action and a clean sound.
