Shubb C2K Black Chrome Guitar Capo For Classical Guitar

Ok, after all that being said, I have found this to be my go to capo, and I have several. Reason: I have found it to produce the most consistent pressure across the fret board of my classical and flamenco guitars. Cheers.

This is a well made little unit,it holds across all the strings evenly with no buzzing.It's adjustable as to neck thickness so I can't see why it wouldn't fit all nylon string guitars. Very simple design.

First of all SBM is a great place for guitarists, wide variety of products with a good range of prices. I shop here often, my orders are always quickly processed and shipped. A caveat regarding straight capos designed for flat classical guitar fretboards: they all require more that ordinary finger pressure for the D string to properly seat. I know because I have a handful of different ones, and the Shubb is no exception in this regard. Pluses: reasonably priced, works well, pressure adjustable, black low profile is unobtrusive and blends with an ebony board. Minuses IMO: insufficient backing on the neck cradle exposes metal to the back of the neck; potential for mishap should the catch be released haphazardly and cause the cradle arm to recoil back into the neck. That being said, the Shubb is a decent capo and works as advertised.

I have purchased strings and other items here and the order was always quickly processed and shipped. That being said, I have purchased 3 classical guitar capos here, the G7th (pricey), the Planed Waves, and the Shubb for which this review is written. They all more or less do the job, and they all require a lot of pressure to keep the 4th (D) string from buzzing. The Shubb interface to the guitar (movable arm for the back of the neck) can be dangerous to your instrument. I understand the design is intended to "remember" the pressure point so all you have to do is snap it on the next time. However, when you release it the arm tends to recoil back towards the neck if you don't hold it. Chalk it up to user error, but when I executed the release, the recoil slammed against the neck and left a scar behind 2nd position on my recently acquired 2018 Gerundino Hijo flamenco blanca. I cannot publish the expletives I spewed, but let us say I am still livid. And, I also had to reposition the rubber pad on the fretting arm to center on the strings properly. Like I said, does the job but be careful how you use it.

I used the older version of the Shubb Capo for a classical guitar for years. It was perfect! Unfortunately, I lost it during my travels. This newer version (with the roller) does not fit the back of the neck properly. Disappointed.
