Warm, Full, and Powerful!
Review by Corey A. on 25 Dec 2017 review stating Warm, Full, and Powerful! Previously I had tried and reviewed the Ivory colored (warm toned) Tusq pick and had been quite happy with it. (I just looked at my old review and I still love the pick, on my mando and on my acoustic especially). I wanted to try the deep toned pick for guitar because Ive been playing more jazz and was looking for a big full sound. In comparing on my acoustic guitar the warm to deep toned pick, the deep tone really pulls out the fundamental tone! The sound is very very similar but the high end isn't quite as shimmery, but the overall sound is very full and rich, with lots of fundamental.
These picks are very strange to me. I love the way they sound, I really do. I always say that on an electric specifically the pick doesn't make a big sound difference, but these picks do bring out more sound even on electric instruments. The only things I wish the pick had were a large gripping area (I have hand issues and wish the center of the pick were a little thicker for gripping) and I wish the edges were buffed better... however, considering the cost of the pick and compared to other picks made from similar materials, I can sand my own edges.
If you want a pick that gives you a big, full, well balanced tone.... I completely recommend this pick. The two pick shapes also give you some options on whether you want a warmer or sharper attack. It strums as well as it plucks single notes, and even when I get other fancier picks, I somehow keep finding my way to the TUSQ picks.
