D'Addario Chrome Flatwound CG040 XL .040 inches 1.02 mm Single String

I would not go anywhere else for strings.

I went to flats a few years back after 50 years with round wound strings. Chromes have a great tone, not quite as bright as rounds, but not dull either. I customize a set of 9, 11 , and 15s in NYXL and 22, 30 and 40 Chromes. I wish that D'Addario would put a set together in these gauges, since it gets a little pricey with individual strings. I've used SBM for a long time, and they are great, with accurate and fast delivery.
