D'Addario EJ32C Folk Nylon Ball End Classical Guitar Strings, Full Set

I bought strings as a gift for a friend. The process was seamless because of the knowledge and kindness of Strings by Mail.

I bought these strings for my classical guitar as an experiment, hoping they would perform as well as standard classical strings. They do not. I installed them two weeks ago and gave them a good stretch, but they still haven't settled in. I play every day, and the guitar is never in tune when I pick it up. In addition, I can tell the vibration is not nearly the same at the bridge, because when I tune it up, the signal on the tuner dies very rapidly.

I have a travel guitar that uses ball end strings. I don’t change the strings very often but when I do these work well.

I put these on my nephews guitar while visiting for christmas. At first, i wasn’t impressed.

I revisited on xmas the next year, to my surprise they sounded better than they did at first.

Even tho my nephew rarely plays it, the sound improved as they sat on the guitar.

The basses actually sounded great! LOUD AF with good tone. The trebles were okay, not great. And this contrast didnt sound right. But i will admit, i had fun playing those basses!

However, the metal on the basses smelled so bad i had to deep clean my hands each time after playing. Furthermore, the trebles were shot after 1 week, at which point they devolved into a wimpy plastic sound.

The reason i am writing this is for the people who leave strings on for a long time. Maybe you only play once in a while or maybe youre considering these for a spare guitar that doesnt get a lot of playtime.

Well…. My experience is the metal corrodes easily and the trebles have no longevity (and werent great in the 1st place).

I am honestly not familiar with ball end nylon because i have a standard classical guitar and from my experience, ball end nylons dont work well for all acoustic guitars.

I find they work best on smaller guitars; something about the string length perhaps. My nephews olympia by tacoma works PERFECTLY with nylon ball ends but my bigger yamahas just never seem to be the same.

Anyways, i ordered some more ball end nylons from sweetwater. My quest continues 💙
