Aquila Tenor Ukulele Strings Nylgut Tuned in 5ths (2 wound) 34U

Sounds very good. Has sort of a sad sound

I was so happy to string up one of my tenor ukes in fifths so I could practice mandolin songs without all the left hand fatigue. I retuned it every few minutes as one does with new strings and it was holding pitch pretty well, until the E string snapped. I'm so bummed. The packaging doesn't list string gauges, so I'm at a loss to find the proper string. I would happily buy an extra single string with each set if I knew what to get. I guess I'll try that #20 test monofilament fishing line. I'm sure they have it on Amazon. Maybe these strings would work better on a soprano ukulele? Right? Shorter neck, less tension? I also bought the Aquila 35U strings for viola tuning for my baritone uke, but maybe those will work better on the tenor. Trial and error. Ugh!

Strings by Mail is a great place to buy. Quick, reasonably priced, and efficient. However, the Aquila fifths strings I purchased for my tenor uke are not as reliable. The E string broke before I ever got it up to pitch.
I had the same problem with a fifths set I bought previously for a different tenor uke, and found online that it’s a common problem with this set of strings. Therefore, I replaced the E string with a piece of 20# test monofilament fishing line I’d bought the first time it happened. Now all is well
