Review by Andy J. on 18 Jan 2022 review stating D'Addario NYXL high carbon plain steel G .017 This string was better than most other plain G's, But I replaced it with a D'Addario wound .017. I like the sound of the wound 3rd as it blends more with the set. The .017 won't break even with 1 1/2 note bends [3 frets]. The NYXL 11-49 set is nickel plated and so is brighter than pure nickel sets. This set also has a hex core but bends like a round core set. If you're playing any pop or jazz the wound G is great, but it will wear out sooner than the other strings.
