Dogal Diamante Recording Guitar Strings Reg NR127BREC, Full Set

Like other reviewers I founds this set to be less than what I expected, especially for the price. The trebles were very nice, excellent tone and projection, although somewhat higher tension than found in other normal tension sets. The bass stings had a rough almost sandy feeling. As a result I found them to be very noisy and unforgiving for anything less than perfect right hand strokes. I did NOT feel like I could record with these strings given the unusual finish of the bass strings.

I was very surprised by the trebles -- some power, but also highly sensitive to vibrato, excellent balance, intonation and clarity -- not much darkness when playing tasto, but nothing is perfect -- they will be my new trebles for a while,

These basses are not for me -- yes, they are raspy, and noisy for the right hand. Left hand slides sound less noisy than average, but not as good as other polished basses I've played. I think the equalization of the basses can potentially be good, in that these bass strings have more presence in the higher harmonics -- therefore, they are more defined, and potentially even vocal -- but that quality also brings out the noise.

I will try to wear out the basses for a month, perhaps they get better with age?

As much as I like the Dogal Diamante trebles with their clear singing tone, the recording basses were a big disappointment. Raspy, not really smooth, got out of tune very quickly and on top, the 5th string broke overnight while the guitar was in the case, with just a week of use!
