Thomastik-Infeld CR127 Classic N Superlona Nylon/Silverplated Full Set

I bought some of these at a local guitar shop 15 or 20 years ago. My next set of strings were something different, but I missed these so much that I specifically went and sought a source for them. That source was Strings by Mail, and I've been buying them here ever since

I thought I'd give this set a try as flatwound bass strings are a rare thing. I was wanting to see how they were with regards to string noise, and hoping they wound actually sound good. Well, the string noise while moving from position to position on the neck was greatly reduced, and the feel of the strings was different in a good way, from ordinary basses. That's about it on the positives; now for the negatives: The basses sound dull in comparison to roundwound strings, right from the start, when the sound could only be expected to become more dull with further use. I took them off after two days and replaced them with roundwound basses. I also had to change out the high E string since it didn't seem to want to settle in to correct intonation. So, 2 out of 6 strings survived the audition. Live and learn. Your mileage may vary, but I won't be trying these strings again...and the price point does not warrant the headache.

I am surprised that these strings are listed as "student line". I play a Rameriz 4E Cedar Top and bought these strings a few years ago and loved the tone they produced. I tried multiple brands and tensions over the last few years but nothing has come up to the standard of tonality that Thomastick-Infields have. They are definitely an underrated string.

I bought this set because a review I read by a customer at the SBM that had praised this product calling it "and WOW" and for $18.00. So once I put it on my guitar I quickly realized this was big mistake and the tone and sound produced by these strings were far inferior than my $5.00 set from D'Addario and they were buzzing a lot. Lessons learned don't always believe these WOW reviews......

I just put these on my guitar, and wow! The most beautiful tone and feel to the strings. These aren't like any other strings I've used. When played, you feel like there is an orchestra behind you...sounds crazy I know... but I'm loving these strings! Thanks again Strings by Mail!
