If you're looking for an alternative to pure nickel strings, try the Pyramid Monel Classics. They're made by wrapping Monel wire around a steel core, a traditional manufacturing technique. The Pyramid Monel Classics produce a "Vintage bright" tone that places them between nickel-plated steel and pure nickel strings.

Caution: Be careful cutting these wound strings to the desired length. Before you cut, make a sharp bend into the string. This fixes the nickel wrap wire, which otherwise gets loose and leaves you with a dead string.

These strings sound better than anything else that I've put on my electric guitar. Strings by Mail customer service is the best too! I'll be buying my strings from them from now on.

Just what my Strat wanted!

When I get a new guitar, I take awhile to match the right gauge and windings with it; in most cases, I mainly try pure nickel, but these Monel have just a bit more body. I generally switch the 11 to a 10.5, the tension and sound match up a bit better to me. The road core and quality of the finishing make them very nice; with a 25.5 scale and these slightly heavier strings, I have 4 springs in, and love the ease/resistance to bending.

Excellent acoustic strings.

I put a custom set (12,15,22,32,42,48) of these on my twenty year old Taylor 410 and wow! They’re not as loud as PB but they’re subtle and I love the woody tone they bring out.
