If you're looking for an alternative to pure nickel strings, try the Pyramid Monel Classics. They're made by wrapping Monel wire around a steel core, a traditional manufacturing technique. The Pyramid Monel Classics produce a "Vintage bright" tone that places them between nickel-plated steel and pure nickel strings.

Caution: Be careful cutting these wound strings to the desired length. Before you cut, make a sharp bend into the string. This fixes the nickel wrap wire, which otherwise gets loose and leaves you with a dead string.

Tames harsh pickups

Put these on my Les Paul Special and they really evened out the P 90s. Nice and smooth under the fingertips providing quick power chord changes. I suggest you try em at least once. You might be surprised at how they shape your tone and react with your effects. Thanks SBM!

The Gold Standard for the Floating Pickup

This is an amazing string if you have a carved archtop. I have a special edition Eastman 805-CE with a lollar Johnny smith. These strings are very reactive to touch. They are warm right out of the package, and boldly articulate. Skip any other Monel string if you’re looking for a string that sounds good both plugged and unplugged. These are the ones you need. Strings by mail makes this custom set with a wound 3rd, and they are perfect.
