Recently, I installed a set of John Pearse 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Slightly Lt 11-52 rather than my regular go-to's, the John Pearse 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings Lt 12-53, so this review applies to TI’s .011, .012, .015 and .016 brass-plated singles along with DR Xenon singles in the same guages. (DR Xenon singles, like Thomastik-Infeld singles, are brass plated.)

Whenever I put a new set of 80/20s on my Taylor 214CE, I like to instead use a brass-plated version for the first and second steel strings. Brass-coated/plated steel strings seems to sound rounder, they're less susceptible to corrosion (notice how easily your finger slides up and down brass-plated steel strings) and if for no other reason, they look incredibly cool. Buying two singles with every set might be a little more expensive, but I don't care. StringsByMail makes it very easy to order exactly what I need.

Simply put, I really like brass-plated TI singles and also the similarly brass-plated DR Xenon singles. I haven't yet noticed any difference (yet) between the two brands, but if I uncover one I’ll report back.
