Enthralled with Aquila

For Nylon strings, I am enthralled with Aquila. They have remarkable sustain, clarity and warmth. They have a sweet sound. I have tried many different varieties they make and I love them all. I have Yamaha,Ibanez, Ventura and Andalusian Guitars. They all sound so much more rich and tasty with Aquila!

I did not like them.

I get that they are trying to produce an “old world” style string but it just was not happening for me. I should have listened to the reviews I had read about the strings breaking. I had heard somewhere that they are meant to be tuned to a lower Hertz but I don’t know if that’s true. I snapped the high e string and now I’m using it as a half bass set of Aquila with another pack of strings that I had to open. I didn’t like the way the metalizaded polymer strings felt, they felt cheap to me. I just wish I would have been able to try them out as a full set. I’m hoping the sugar strings I bought from Aquila don’t have the same unfortunate results.

Aquila Granata

The best thing about these string are how fast the trebles set in. The basses are weak and dull. The trebles have great flamenco character, but be warned if you have low action or a active top, the buzz is sitar like and very annoying.
