guitarist of a certain age
Review by Barry L. on 7 Jan 2022 review stating guitarist of a certain age okay...i used only Black Diamond strings....that's all that was available in my area in 1967. Other brands came along soon enough...and the familiar red bagged BD strings went away (I still have three bagged strings leftover in the guitar I had in the rear while in Viet Nam.
So while discussing strings with a contemporary, the name Black Diamond rose up and I decided "why not?"
Silverplate? You betcha!! So on they go to show their mettle compared to D'Adario, Martin and DR.
I have them on two guitars so far: Breedlove DM (D 18 style) and Gibson J60 (D28 style)
Breedlove DM-----Not as brilliant as I'd like though not unpleasant. Very good response for Flatpicking by the rhythm seemed a bit thin. **** 4 stars
Gibson J60 -----Wow they really respond to the rosewood body as compared to the mahogany of the Breedlove. Brilliant flatpick and full resound rhythm! ***** 5 stars
We will see on the Gibson J100 and the Martin M16 (0000)
....and we'll see how they hold up in a performance environment.
