La Bella Black Nylon Tape Wound 800M Electric Guitar Medium 14-67

Tried these for the first time on my Jazzmaster ultra - they did not disappoint. Smooth even sound from the basses complimented the strong and resonant trebles perfectly. In addition, the strings feel great.

These make playing my arch top so much more fun. There’s a satisfying “thwack” when you do Freddie Green style chunking and they are so warm and mellow for single note solos. They intimate well and last forever. For the price, I just wish they’d give us an extra E and B since those will wear out before the wound strings.

I am primarily a classical guitar player, but I dabble occasionally in jazz, and just recently took my old Guild T-150 out of the closet, and re-strung it with these LaBella Jazz Tapes. --Years ago (1980s?) RotoSound made a similar nylon-wrapped string, but discontinued, and I was delighted to find another company offering them. --To clarify, the top two strings are traditional wire, but the bottom four have something like the feel/texture of nylon and are thus classical technique-friendly (that is, if you play finger-style with nails). The sound of these lower wrapped strings is inherently mellow, and I think especially good for traditional jazz. In the lowest register some might find them a bit dead-sounding (not great sustain), but on the other hand the lowest strings produce a bass-like sound that works well for walking bass lines and chord solo purposes. Overall, I am very happy with these strings and glad to have found them. I bought medium gauge, and might try light guage the next time around (I find the medium a tad stiff), but the sound is just what I'm looking for, and again, these "tapes" are and intriguing option for crossover classical players.

Fantastic feeling strings. Slide up and down these strings without lifting your fingers and they are so smooth, almost like they are frictionless. I just wish all 6 strings could be black, for better looking setup.

Excellent strings. Great soft feel and full sound due to the heavy gauges. Perfect to get full effect from an archtop.
