I really like these strings!
I recently ordered a set of the red 820s to try out and am finally getting to it. I make my own guitars and have been using Galli nylon strings mostly on my instruments, which I like a lot as well.
When I first installed them, I thought that the 820s seemed a little dull sounding on first tuning especially when compared with one of my other guitars with a normal nylon Galli set in them, but of course we can't know a string's true character until they have stabilised over a bit of time. After a couple of hours they were starting to sound really nice and today, a full day later, they are just great. I really like them a lot.
What I find is that that I feel as though I can dig in a little more to pull out the sound without them feeling over driven than I can on the Galli, if that makes any sense at all. I know this sort of thing is so subjective and dependent on instrument and player and other aspects. In truth, it would be hard for me to say a certain brand of string is 'bad', at least in my experience, more like they have a different character.
I have a feeling that I'll be using these strings a lot and might switch to using them generally on my instruments.
Though of course I will continue having fun trying out different strings too!
In this case I am using them on one of my own flamencos, spruce top, red mountain cedar back and sides, traditional friction pegs. Mai Rak bridge (which is a rare, not well known, Thai hardwood)
Totally love the red colour and this is the second string order I've made with strings by mail and will definitely continue ordering through them. A++!
Cheers
